Choi Jong-tae : ウィキペディア英語版 | Choi Jong-tae
Choi Jong-tae (Hangul: 최종태, Hanja: 崔鍾泰; born 1932, Daedok, Chungcheongnam-do) is a Korean sculptor, pastel painter, and professor emeritus. One of the most influential sculptors of Korean abstract art, the artist expresses sacredness in his search for the ideal human form. Using wood, marble, and bronze, the artist sculpts shapes of women and girls with a sense of purity and innocence. The subjects are in praying and thinking poses, and they often allude to the Virgin Mary or the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Rendered with minimal features and pure colors, and with fine balance between abstractness and figurative elements, his works are characterized by simplicity, frontality, and stability. ==External links==
